Dr. Weibel is currently accepting new clients. In-person visits in Bryn Mawr are on
Wednesdays and Fridays. Video or phone sessions can happen Monday through Friday.
Initial Phone Call
I typically have a ten-minute initial phone call to help us determine if we would work well together. Please call 215-779-5575. If I am unable to answer, please list three times when you wish to be called. You can also email d@drweibel.com and list times you wish to be called.
In the initial call you can ask questions, and I will ask:
1. What is the general nature of what you want to improve?
You can answer in a few minutes, providing an overview or key points. I might ask follow-up questions.
2. Do you wish to use insurance, and what type?
Dr. Weibel accepts and is an in-network provider for the following insurance plans:
Independence Blue Cross (IBX), also called Personal Choice PPO
Aetna
Medicare, standard, not Medicare Advantage
Optum/United Healthcare/United Behavioral Healthcare (UBH)
Highmark (Premiere Blue Cross Blue Shield)
We greatly appreciate that you to take a proactive approach in researching your insurance. For in-network clients, once your deductible is met, you pay only your copay The deductible is the amount you pay each year before your insurance begins to pay. Until you meet your annual deductible, you will pay the full insurance-negotiated fee. Insurance-negotiated rates will generally fall within $120-170 for the first session and $100-140 for subsequent sessions. When your deductible has been met, you pay only your co-pay at each session. You may have to look at your insurance documents or call your insurance company to verify your remaining deductible. When calling your insurance company, the questions to ask include:
Do I have a deductible?
How much of it is remaining for this year?
What is my co-pay?
After the first session, our billing person will submit to your insurance company and verify any deductibles and copays. If ever you paid too much, perhaps after your deductible was met from visiting other professionals, then we reverse the charges as soon as we understand the situation.
Out-of-Network (OON) Insurance Benefits
If Dr. Weibel is not in your network, many insurers will reimburse a percentage of expenses (approximately 40-60%) for a licensed psychologist. Dr. Weibel will provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance to get reimbursed a % of what you paid.
Private-pay, non-insurance, and out-of-network
Some clients elect not the use insurance for reasons such as:
· More choice of psychologists
· Increased privacy- no diagnosis goes to an insurance company
· Less limits on the length or style of therapy
Private-Pay Rates, if not using insurance
Individual Psychotherapy:
$250 for the first 60-minute session
$200 for a 50-55 minute session
$125 for a 30-minute session
Couples Therapy:
$300 for first 90-minute session
$250 for each subsequent 55-minute session
Sliding Scale
Most insurance companies will not allow Dr. Weibel to offer rates below their rates. Thus, he cannot lower his rate below insurance rates, such as the Medicare rate of $104 for a 50-minute session. If you wish to discuss sliding scale down to an amount that remains above insurance rates, please consider what you can afford based on all sources of income and assets, including that of your family.
3. Do you foresee any legal or complicating issues?
This involves less than 10% of potential clients who call. Clients sometimes want to utilize their psychologist’s opinion and records for issues such as: emotional support pets, accommodations on tests, reinstatement in college or a major, divorce & custody, bariatric or pain pump surgeries, disability from Social Security or the VA, , immigration status, fitness for duty, firearm ownership, worker’s compensation or work leave, workplace harassment, or looking good to a judge after a DUI or assault charge.
Dr. Weibel appreciates being notified before we decide to begin therapy if our therapy would relate in any way to any of these issues. Many of these issues and evaluations are better handled by a professional working in an evaluative or forensic role rather than a clinical or helping role.
Once we decide to work together, I will send an email inviting you to Simple Practice, which handles paperwork and lets you pick your own appointment times, without phone or email tag. Available times will shift in subsequent weeks, so please do not give up immediately if none of the initial times fits your schedule. If it seems we are not a good fit, I would be happy to make a referral to another provider or community resources.
I am at the office (14 S. Bryn Mawr Ave, Suite 203, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010) on Wednesday and Friday, and am offering virtual on all days, meaning Wednesday and Friday office days still allow virtual from that office.
Note: Dr. Weibel does not prescribe medications. As a clinical psychologist he does diagnose the full range of psychological issues and disorders and will refer to prescribers. You will have to make a separate appointment with one of those prescribers, as they are not within Dr. Weibel’s office.
Please realize that email is not as secure as a phone call, so do not include detailed personal information.
